London In Post-War Art

We are delighted to be returning to the Framers Gallery in December for a special exhibition showcasing ‘London In Post-War Art’.London In Post War

The capital underwent huge change in the period between the 1940s and 1970s with the repair of bomb damage, large-scale redevelopment, the appearance of modern architecture and emergence of new lifestyles, not least from new immigrant populations. The exhibition uses drawings, paintings and original prints to explore the extent and impact of post-war change, and includes works by such artists as Edwin La Dell, Henry Moore, John Piper, Robert Tavener and Julian Trevelyan, all of which are for sale.

Fifties Art Director, Dr Richard Turkington will be on hand throughout the show to provide an overview and insights into the artworks on display:

“This is a fascinating period when London emerged from the horrors of war through austerity to reach the relative prosperity of the sixties and seventies. Artists active through this time provided an effective commentary on the changing London scene. Following our hugely successful Piper show in September the Framers Gallery provides the perfect venue for this varied and stimulating exhibition.”
