If you buy from us, you're buying something original from the period. Pieces are unique, hard to find or limited edition and, like a recent buyer, we want you to be "thrilled with it". Please remember that items which can be 50 years old and older are not factory fresh and are likely to be showing their age. For example, screenprints such as those produced by John Piper might not be perfectly flat, as explained in our section on 'Painting and Printmaking Techniques' on the 'Buying' page.

We identify any obvious defects such as fading or cracks, and you're welcome to ask for more detailed information, including photos. We give the size of pictures without their frames, but we can provide overall sizes and photos of pictures with their frames, most of which are original and authentic to the period.

How do I pay for something?

We can accept payment by cheque or you can pay by all major credit cards using PayPal. You do not need a PayPal account. Simply select your purchase(s), click on the Add/Cart button, and this will take you to the short PayPal address and credit/debit card form. PayPal forwards us your email, and we will confirm receipt of your order within a very short time. We provide free professional packaging and delivery within the UK on all items bought online, and can offer a 10% discount on the sale price to the value of £1,000 if you can arrange collection, or £100 for more valuable items.

What if I change my mind?

We're happy to accept cancellation of your order by telephone before it's delivered.

What if I don't like it?

If your order has already been sent, please follow the procedure for returning your purchase which is explained below.

How do we organise delivery?

Delivery in the UK is free. Delivery outside the UK is at cost. Books, ceramics and other small items are protected by padded envelopes, bubble wrap or card as appropriate. Unframed pictures are sent either flat or rolled within a stiff tube as you prefer. We do not use polystyrene for ecological reasons.

We send out all our parcels by special delivery or by courier. This means that you will need to sign for the item on delivery. Please provide an address where somebody will be available to receive deliveries during working hours. Delivery usually takes 7-10 working days but please let us know if you need an item more urgently.

What if I want to return my purchase?

You can return your purchase(s) for any reason at any time within 14 days of receipt for a full refund or exchange. However, I'm afraid it will be your responsibility to return the item(s). We will not be able to refund any items lost or damaged in transit as this is the responsibility of the courier. If the item you have received is faulty but has not been damaged in transit, we will refund the cost of the return postage. We recommend you return the item(s) via recorded, signed-for delivery.

All returns must be sent to the following address:, 59 Stocks Lane, Newland, Malvern, WR13 5AZ. Refunds will be paid within 30 days, as long as the item has been received in the same condition as when it was sent, or unless there has been postal damage.

What about my privacy?

Your privacy is important to us. You can join our mailing list and, unless you don't want to hear from us, we'll let you know about new stock and future events, but this is all. Otherwise, we do not collect, store or share any personal information, it is used only for payments and deliveries. Our approach to handling personal data conforms with the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998 and The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
