Robert Tavener: a Centenary Exhibition
Born on the 6th July 1920, Robert Tavener was a wonderfully creative printmaker whose linocuts, lithographs or screenprint are bold, colourful and often playful, his signature blackbird and burning sun recur throughout his work.
This exhibition brings together over 30 prints at competitive prices which reflect the range of his work which is increasingly collected. Its enduring popularity is reflected in his acceptance at the Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition for 34 years in succession and its inclusion in over 25 UK collections, including the V and A and the Government Art Collection.
The prints have been organised as follows – though smart phones may have their own idea:
- countryside views;
- the Oxford and Cambridge series;
- Salisbury and London; and
- the Horse Guards series.
