Artist description:

Born in Hove, Sussex, Nina Winder Reid studied at St. John’s Wood School of Art and became a well-known painter of landscapes and seascapes, mostly in oil. An exhibitor at most of the major galleries, she was a founder member of the Society of Marine Artists in 1938, showing three paintings at their inaugural exhibition. In April 1939 an exhibition of her work was held at Walker’s Gallery, London, where her coastal scenes, mainly of Sussex were shown. She was elected RSMA and exhibited at the ROI, SWA, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, RBA, RCamA, RHA, RSA and examples of her work are in Kidderminster Art Gallery and the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich.
