Artist description:

Yet another lesser known woman artist, a printmaker, a painter of landscapes and of powerful abstracts, Jolán Polatschek Williams was born in Austria and studied in Vienna, Cracow and Munich. She married David Jeffrey Williams in 1928 and settled in north London which enabled her to study at the Central and City and Guilds Schools of Art. She exhibited extensively and internationally including at the RA, NEAC, RBA, LG, Leger, Redfern and Whitechapel Galleries. Solo shows included at the Wertheim, Beaux Arts and Drian galleries, her work is held extensively in collections in Britain and abroad.
