Piper, John: Stones of Bath (Blue)

£950.00

Description

Artist: John Piper (1903 – 1992)

Title and date: Stones of Bath, 1962

Size: 50 x 123 cms.

Description: This stunning screenprinted ‘Sanderlin’ cotton fabric was one of 5 designs commissioned from John Piper as part of the Arthur Sanderson and Company centenary celebrations in 1960, and manufactured from 1962. Using 19 colours, far more than conventional screenprints on paper, the semi-abstract design was based on the architectural features of the city, how many can you spot?

This design is seldom found in such excellent condition. It is expertly mounted, glazed and framed on commission, we also have it available in the green colourway: https://fiftiesart.com/product/john-piper-stones-bath-green/

Once framed, this is a very expensive fabric to have packaged and delivered and regrettably, unless it’s collected, we have to make an additional charge of £50 towards shipping costs.

More images can be provided on request.
