Artist description:
A theatre designer, costume specialist and painter, known as Billy Heseltine, she studied at the Central School of Arts and Crafts and trained as a teacher. In the 1930s she went on to learn theatre work and worked in a range of London theatres and at the Birmingham Rep. She began painting again after the war especially landscapes whilst on holiday in Ireland, the circus and portraits. Barbara Heseltine is an under-appreciated artist whose work appears only infrequently.
