Artist description:

Kostia Terechkovitch is a French painter of Russian origin born on the outskirts of Moscow. He attended the School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in Moscow in 1917, the same year in which the Russian Revolution broke out. He left for Paris in 1920 where he joined the Russian expatriate community in Montparnasse and began his artistic career.

In 1933 he produced the sets and the costumes of the Ballets Russes in Monte Carlo. In 1939, he joined the Foreign Legion and was demobilised in 1940. During the German occupation, he fled with his family to a house near Avallon, where he resumed painting. After the Second World War, he travelled widely following major sporting events including the Olympics. Recurrent themes in his painting are his family and two daughters, landscapes, nature, and especially horse racing and equestrian scenes.
