Artist description:

A painter, weaver and embroiderer, Inez Hoyton was born in Winchester of Scottish-Dutch descent, she studied at Leeds College of Art and lived in Penzance. Inez Hoyton exhibited at the RA in 1948 and 1952, at the

Penwith Society of Arts, the Newlyn Art Gallery, in London and the provinces. A teacher at Penzance School of Art from 1946 to 1968 she and her husband became strongly associated with Cornish artistic life, Inez was a member of the Newlyn Society of Artists, the St. Ives Society of Artists and the Penwith Society. She travelled widely, notably in Greece, Italy, Spain and the USA. Although her second name was Estella, she sometimes signed her work lnez B Hoyton.
